At what age did you start learning music? How long have you taken lessons? I started learning the piano just before my 7th birthday in March 2024, I have been taking lessons for 6 months now. Who are your favourite musical artists/composers? I love Taylor Swift, and recently I've started loving Avo Ro (from Erin and Aaron). What are your other hobbies, besides music? I like playing outdoors and video games. Favourite food? Poutine :) What is the coolest thing you have recently learned in your lessons? Learning to play the Popping Popcorn song! Tell us about your accomplishments in piano! I have learned to play a few songs by memory, without looking at the book, and I am so happy!! Anything else you want to share? Meet Misha Roy, our Student of the Month! Meet Misha, one of our enthusiastic students at Pulsar Music Academy! After dreaming of playing the piano for years, she recently started her piano journey with us. Misha’s having a lot of fun in her lessons and is thrilled with her progress. We're so happy to have Misha as part of our musical family and can't wait to see her continue to grow and enjoy the music. Well done, Misha! What instrument(s) do you play? I play piano and harmonium. At what age did you start learning music? How long have you taken lessons? I started learning Indian classical music when I was five. I have been learning music throughout my life since then with intermittent breaks. I always wanted to play the piano and joined Pulsar Music this year. Who are your favourite musical artists/composers? Chopin, Mozart, R. Tagore, A.R. Rahman, R.D. Burman. What are your other hobbies, besides music? I love painting, reading books especially detective stories. Favourite food? So many! But I have to say, bread and cheese is my all time comfort food :) What is the coolest thing you have learned in your lessons in the past three months? As a beginner piano player, I thought it was really cool when I could play with both hands simultaneously without looking at the keys!   Tell us about your accomplishments in piano! I learned to play a Tagore song on piano which was a wish I had since childhood, thanks to Ekaterina. Do you like performing for your family and friends? I love performing for my friends and their kids! Anything else you want to share? Music has been one of the best forms of self-care for me. Playing my piano always cheers me up, calms me down and makes me feel better. I hope I can inspire my daughter and she will want to learn to play the piano when she is a little older :) Pet of the Month!! Morris, aka Momo, is a 16 year old sweetheart who loves listening to Eben play piano. His favorite songs are the ones that are slow and melodic and perfect for napping to (he especially likes The Little Shepherd by Claude Debussy). Bach typically makes him leave the room, haha! Danny began learning the piano at the age of six. His musical journey started with a significant accomplishment: earning a distinguished medal for achieving the top score at the Royal Conservatory Piano Exam. Since then, Danny has participated in multiple music competitions, festivals, and school recitals. He enjoys learning classical music repertoire as well as popular songs and jazz compositions. Today, we are very proud to announce that it is graduation time for Danny! He brilliantly completed the RCM Level 8 piano exam and is now ready to take a new step in his life journey at the Ontario Fire Academy! Danny also has piano students of his own and enjoys teaching! Congratulations, dear Danny!!! What instrument(s) do you play? I play Piano. How long have you taken lessons? I've taken piano lessons for 10 years. Who are your favourite musical artists/composers? Beethoven, Ludovico Einaudi, Franz Liszt. What are your other hobbies, besides music? Muay Thai, Weightlifting, Handball, and I also Teach Piano. Favourite food? Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo. What is the coolest thing you have learned in your lessons? Arpeggios!! Tell us about your accomplishments in piano! I have won many music competitions but the one I am most proud of is when I won an international piano competition and was invited to play in Belgium. Email yours at info@pulsar-music.com Meet Eben Hornung, our Student of the Month! Eben began learning the piano with Dr. Ekaterina at the age of five. Now, at twelve years old, he is preparing for his RCM Level 8 piano and music theory exams! What instrument(s) do you play? I play Piano, the French Horn, and the Trumpet. How long have you taken lessons? I've taken piano lessons for 7 and a half years. I started taking trumpet lessons 2 years ago, and I've taken French Horn lessons for one year, both as a member of my school's band. Who are your favourite musical artists/composers? The Strokes, AJR, Vampire Weekend, Foo Fighters, Drod, Handel, and Bach. What are your other hobbies, besides music? Playing video games, videography, reading, and building inventions. Favourite food? Pizza. What is the coolest thing you have learned in your lessons in the past three months? Different ways to calculate music intervals, and the sets of easy tips that you can use in an instant to help you. Tell us about your accomplishments in piano! I've participated in many piano competitions, most notably being the American Protege piano competition. I won second place and got to perform in Carnegie Hall in New York City when I was six years old for the Winners' Recital! Do you have any performances coming up? Just this past week, I performed a song called Incognito for my school's talent show! Are you currently preparing for RCM exams? Which Grade?
